Business Etiquette

Ten Lessons | Eleven Modules | One Price - $99

Corporations repeatedly tell us that employees have the skills to do their jobs, but they are often lacking the personal skills necessary to develop strong positive relationships.

In the first two lessons employees learn the skills and techniques they need to succeed in the workplace. The program begins by teaching employees three goals that will help them navigate the difficult situations they will encounter in business. Next, they learn "The Five-Step Method" which is a logical process built on the three goals and the principles of etiquette: consideration, respect, and honesty.

With the three goals and the Five-Step Method employees can figure out not only how to deal with any work-related situation with clients, prospects, suppliers, colleagues, or managers, but also how to preserve and build their relationship at the same time.

The remaining eight lessons delve into specific etiquette issues including:

  • Communication issues such as what is and isn't appropriate in an email, the three cardinal rules for smart phone use in an office, the elephant in the room no one wants to deal with: texting, or the dangers of using the mute button during a conference call.
  • Everyday office issues such as greeting others every morning or what you do about the cubical colleague who constantly interrupts over the cubical wall or even that guy who clips his toenails while seated at his desk.
  • Professional Image focuses on how to craft a positive, engaging, professional image at work and addresses common attire and image problems.
  • Meetings are a key part of business life. The meetings lesson focuses on preparation as well as issues at the meeting such as being on time, what a poker face is and why it is important, dealing with the difficult person who asks questions during a presentation, and how to follow up the meeting successfully.
  • Business Social Issues include how to engage in small talk, how to handle introductions, advice on starting a conversation with a stranger at a business social event, and strong, clear advice on the “One Drink Rule.”
  • Business Dining focuses on ten key pieces of advice which will help every new hire (and seasoned veterans) navigate a lunch or dinner successfully, from forks and knives to what it means to be a good guest.
  • The 24/7 Professional lesson brings all the advice together as it concludes the program and discusses how important it is that your words and actions in your personal life be congruent with how you present yourself in business.
